This research paper, written during my undergraduate studies at McGill University, explores how anti-Christian ideas spread in China between 1861 and 1870. It looks at two widely circulated texts that portrayed Christianity as a threat to traditional values, helping to spark public hostility and even violence. The paper sheds light on the cultural tensions of the time and how literature can influence social attitudes.
